Below is a comprehensive list of supplemental items along with their descriptions. Based on your citizenship status and program of choice, different supplemental items will be required. You will not need all the items listed below. To see which specific items are required for your application, you can log into your application portal, select your current application, and navigate to the Supplemental Items and Requests tab.

College Transcript

Official transcripts are transcripts that are sent directly from academic institutions to the UCO Jackson College of Graduate Studies. These transcripts may be submitted via the following methods:

  • Sent via mail in sealed college/university envelopes.
  • Hand-delivered in sealed college/university envelopes.
  • Electronically sent directly to our office via email from your college/university.
  • Electronically sent directly from a third-party company (such as Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse).

Members of the Graduate Admissions Team will have the ability to access official UCO transcripts, therefore, you will only be tasked with submitting official transcripts from other institutions. Applicants will need to submit transcripts from all institutions (except for UCO) attended at the undergraduate and graduate level, and any degree(s) earned will need to be posted on the appropriate transcript(s). Failure to submit transcripts from all institutions attended will result in a delayed admissions process.

If you currently attend or previously attended UCO and submitted official transcripts from other institutions once before, we may be able to access those from your UCO student record, however, it is not a guarantee. The Jackson College of Graduate Studies may ask that you re-submit transcripts from other institutions that were previously submitted to UCO if they are no longer on file.

Below are detailed instructions on how specific student/applicant types may submit transcripts.

  • Official electronic transcripts may be submitted directly to the Jackson College of Graduate Studies from your institution via email to gradcoll@uco.edu or via a third-party delivery service. We do not accept forwarded electronic transcripts or emailed electronic transcripts from applicants.
    • Transcripts requested via Parchment should be sent to: University of Central Oklahoma – Jackson College of Graduate Studies
    • Transcripts requested via National Student Clearinghouse should be sent to: University of Central Oklahoma – Graduate College Admissions
  • Hard-copy transcripts in university issued sealed envelopes may be hand-delivered or mailed using the address provided below.

Proof of English Proficiency

All applicants for whom English is a second language must present evidence of proficiency in the English language. The following are acceptable ways for graduate students to present such evidence.

  • TOEFL – 79 or higher iBT (internet-based test) or 550 or higher PBT (paper-based test).
    • To submit official results from ETS for TOEFL iBT, students should use school code 6091.
    • Official PBT scores will be sent to the Graduate College directly from the UCO Testing Center.
  • IELTS - 6.5 or higher overall band score.
    • To submit official IELTS result, students should request the British Council or IDP to send either electronic or hardcopy score reports to the "University of Central Oklahoma Graduate College."
  • PTE Academic - 53 or higher.
    • To submit official PTE scores, students should request their score reports be sent to the "University of Central Oklahoma"
  • iTEP Academic Plus - 4.0 or higher.
    • To submit official iTEP results, students should request the British Council or IDP to send either electronic or hardcopy score reports to the "University of Central Oklahoma Graduate College."
  • Proofof12 weeksofintensiveEnglishstudy at anapproved ESL programin the U.S. after achieving a minimum TOEFL scoreof500 (PBT) or 61 (iBT) or minimum IELTS overall bandof6.0.
    • A signed letter from the language school as well as a completion certificate should be submitted to the Graduate College
  • Transcripts showing your undergraduate or graduate degree was completed from an accredited university or college within the United States or from aUCO-approved nativeEnglish-speaking country.
  • Proof of having attended an appropriately accredited U.S. college or university for a minimum of three full-time semesters of satisfactory graduate-level coursework.

The UCO Jackson College of Graduate Studies prefers scores be sent directly from the testing agency. However, applicants also have the option of uploading their official score reports to their application portal. The Graduate College reserves the right to request an official proof of English proficiency test in all circ*mstances.Review the full English Language Proficiency policy in theAdmission to Graduate Studiessection of the current Graduate Catalog.

Proof of Residency

Copy of citizenship documents (ex. Permanent Residency Card, Naturalization Certificate, EAD card, or asylee/refugee status confirmation.)

20-page Writing Sample (Creative Writing, M.A.)

A 20-page (double-spaced) writing sample in a single approved creative writing genre (section of novel, short story, poems, screenplay, or creative nonfiction essay.)

Athletic Training Program Application

In addition to the application to the Jackson College of Graduate Studies, you are required to fill out the Athletic Training Program Application. The program specific application maybe have additional document requirements. Contact your graduate program advisor for any additional questions. These applications, along with their required supplemental documents should be turned in directly to the specific department.

Audition

The Graduate College will need to receive evidence of a successful audition from the School of Music. Consult the School of Musicfor more details on scheduling an audition. International applicants should complete the International Audition Submissions Form.

Biology Major Advisor Statement

A written statement of a UCO graduate biology faculty member's commitment to serve as Major Advisor. Please note: Your Major Advisor may also write a Letter of Recommendation separately from this short statement.

Creative Process Documentation (Illustration, M.F.A.)

A document showing the creative process for at least one major project that shows idea generation through final production.

Design Portfolio (Design, M.F.A.)

A design portfolio that includes 10-15 examples of your design work with project titles, dates, descriptions and other relevant information

Digital Portfolio (Illustration, M.F.A.)

A digital portfolio submission is recommended to include 10-15 examples of illustration work with project titles, dates, and other relevant information.

General Writing Sample

Copy of a previous research paper or thesis statement demonstrating adequate research ability.For more detailed information on writing sample lengths, formatting, or topics, please review the degree sheet for your program.

GRE/GMAT

Official scores should be sent directly to the Jackson College of Graduate Studies. Scores should be no more than five years old. UCO school code for ETS: 6091. Not all programs require the GRE/GMAT. Select programs that require a GRE/GMAT may offer a waiver opportunity. Please review your program degree sheet.

Letter from School Administrator (optional for Educational Leadership, M.ED.)

Reference the specific program page in the Graduate Catalog for detailed information regarding this letter. The school administrator can provide important information in verifying teaching experience for certain applicants.

Personal statement of interest and goals

Personal statements can vary in length and content, be sure to reference the program degree sheet for details about what is required for your program. In general, this statement should address your interest in the program, goals and objectives, and any other relevant information for the admission's committee to consider.

Prompt-based essay

Prompt-based essays can vary in length and required content. You may review the specific prompt for your program of choise by referencing the program degree sheet.

Resume

Provide a current resume including any industry experience. If you would like assistance improving your resume, feel free to visit the Career Development Center on the 3rd floor of the Nigh University Center on campus.

RN License (Nursing, M.S.)

Preference will be given to individuals with a current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered nurse in the state of Oklahoma. Conditional admissions will be considered for individuals in the process of obtaining licensure.

Speech-Language Pathology Program Application

In addition to the application to the Jackson College of Graduate Studies, you are required to fill out the Speech-Language Pathology Graduate Program Admissions Packet. The program specific application maybe have additional document requirements.

Speech-language pathology prerequisite application

Applicants seeking admission to the Jackson College of Graduate Studies to complete Speech-Language Pathology prerequisite coursework will need to fill out the Request for Permission to Enroll in Speech-Language Pathology Beginning Sequence Courses form.

Statement of purpose

In general, this statement should include your purpose/rationale for pursuing the program and may include: personal interests, goals, and your personal background.

Teacher Certificate (optional)

Copy of current teaching certificate. Reference the specific degree sheet in the Graduate Catalog for more information regarding the optional terms. Some programs allow you to complete the certification requirements concurrently during the program. Requiring you complete and turn in before graduation, while others require you submit it within the first 12 hours of the program.
